AOG is ‘aircraft on ground’ which means that a plane is indefinitely grounded. A plane is grounded or can not fly for various technical and legitimate reasons. It means either the aircraft is in need of repair or it could be out of commission for a longer period of time.
For everyone involved – the airline, passengers, and senders of airfreight – this is a troubling scenario. A grounded airplane creates delays in air traffic, cancelation of flights und unhappy customers.
